Melanie M. Pillai is the partner of Joseph & Partners, which is the leading Shipping and Maritime Law Firm in Malaysia.

Melanie graduated from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, in the United Kingdom with an Honors degree in Law and started her legal career in 1998. Later on, she was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate & Solicitor in the year 2001. With close to 20 years of experience, she currently leads the transactional practice of Joseph & Partners and has gained a strong reputation as a leading transactional law expert. Melanie’s fundamental emphasis in her practice is to help clients identify and achieve practical and feasible solutions to legal issues. She strives to provide clear, frank, precise analysis, advice and execution of strategies to achieve desired outcomes. Her experience in dealing with the maritime clients and practical knowledge of how things work in the region enables her to provide clients with swift and practical assistance following any complex maritime matter with heavy technical content.
